Aragunnu Beach (NSW 641) is the most accessible beach in the northern section of Mimosa Rocks National Park. It is located 4 km off the Tathra-Bermagui road and just 1 km south of the actual Mimosa Rocks. The rocks are a series of reefs and sea stacks composed of 350 million-year-old resilient rhyolite. The beach lies in a valley cut into a little pocket of younger Tertiary conglomerates. The cobbles from these deposits supply the two cobble beaches in lee of the Mimosa Rocks, a reef located 700 m east of the beach. A vehicle track from the Bermagui road winds into the 20 m high bluffs above the northern end of the beach where there is a camping area and car park and steps leading down to the beach. The 100 m high headlands are however composed of older more resilient metamorphic rocks. The sand beach is 630 m long, faces southeast and is usually cut by 4-5 rips, including permanent rips against each headland, with the small Aragunnu Creek crossing the middle of the beach (Fig. 4.412).
