The first section of coast south from the mouth of Mummuga Lake at Mummuga Point consists of 2 km of irregular steeply dipping rocky shore that contains two narrow rocky bays. The first, Cresswick Cove, is all rock, but does have a boat ramp in its southern corner. The second contains the pocket Dalmeny Beach (NSW 591, also called Joshs), which is bordered to the south by 10 m high Yabbara Head. The beach is 100 m long and faces east-northeast out of the rocky 200 m wide bay, with prominent rock platforms to either side, below cliffs rising to 20 m, with houses behind (Fig. 4.394). The beach is moderately sheltered with waves averaging 0.5-1 m, which maintain a wide low gradient low tide terrace, with a permanent rip flowing out against the northern rocks, and a smaller gutter against the southern rocks. It is backed by vegetated bluffs, with access from the southern Ocean Parade. This is a rock- and rip-dominated beach unsuitable for swimming when waves are breaking.
Beach Length: 0.05km
