Saltwater Beach (NSW 188) is a 1.4 km long southeast-facing beach located between the low northern Saltwater (or Wallabi Point) and the southern more prominent 18 m high head, also called Wallabi Point. Saltwater itself refers to the small residential area on the low northern headland, the access road, and the national park at the southern end. However the beach is also officially known as Wallabi Beach. To make matters more confusing the surf at the southern headland is called Uggs Reef by the younger surfers and Green Point by the older surfers. The sealed Saltwater road runs right behind the low foredune providing good access to the entire beach with car parks behind the beach and at the points. Lifeguards patrolled the northern end during the summer holidays. Saltwater National Park is located behind Wallabi Point and has a picnic area, as well as access Khappinghai Creek mouth and 4WD access across the creek to Diamond Beach. The Point also has a small littoral rain forest. Between the two points is the gently curving 1.3 km long east facing beach.
