Grassy Beach (NSW 133) extends for 2 km between Middle and Grassy heads and is also backed by a low foredune plain which abuts the steeper slopes which rise 220 m to Cooks Knob. The southern end in lee of Grassy Head is a popular spot with a shady camping area often good beach and point surfing breaks against Grassy Head, and beach and rock fishing. Its popularity resulted in a surf club being formed for a few years from 1958. The club no longer operates, though lifeguards now patrol during the school summer holidays. The 2 km long beach has a double bar following high seas, with a well developed inner bar cut by rips, with a second bar often forming just north of Grassy Head. Permanent rips also flow out along Grassy Head and Middle Head in the north.
Beach Length: 1.975km
