Burwood Beach (also known as Glenrock Beach, NSW 248) extends southwest from the southern Merewether rocks to 75 m high Little Redhead Point. The beach is backed by two valleys separated by a steep vegetated spur, with often rocks exposed on the beach. The northern valley, Murdering Gully is site of the Burwood Beach Waste Treatment Works which discharges treated sewer via a pipe across the northern end of the beach, while Glenrock lagoon occupies the southern valley, with a scout camp located on the southern side of the lagoon. The beach is fully exposed to southerly waves and is usually dominated by 3-4 beach rips, with permanent rips against the rocks at either end, and rocks at times exposed in the centre (Fig. 4.143). read more
