On the south side of Bawley Point are two adjoining beaches separated by Jurwin Head (Fig. 4.360). To the north is 300 m long Cormorant Beach (NSW 487) which is relatively straight and faces due east between the sloping rocks of Bawley and Jurwin points. Houses back both sides with a foredune then 12 ha wetland behind the centre, which is drained by a small creek against the northern rocks. The beach receives waves averaging about 1 m, which usually maintain a continuous low tide terrace. Rips form against the northern rocks, then down the beach during higher waves. It can be accessed from a small park besides the creek and via a public walkway between the houses in the south. read more
