North Beach is the first of a series of 13 beaches (NSW 485-497) located between Bawley Point, Kioloa and Pretty Beach, and all accessible from the 8 km long Murramarang Road. The beaches are bordered by Meroo National Park to the north and Murramarang National Park to the south. The first two are located either side of Willinga Point. North Beach (NSW 485) is a 750 m long, east-facing beach bordered by the Nuggan and Willunga points, with a reef extending 200 m north from Willunga Point. The reef lowers waves to the south end resulting in an attached bar in the south, with 1-2 rips prevailing along the central-northern section during and following higher waves, particularly against the northern rocks and reef. The beach is backed by a well-vegetated foredune with Willinga Lake mouth crossing the south end of the beach. A car park is located on 20 m high Willinga Point with a track leading down to the beach and access up the beach across the usually shallow or closed mouth. read more
