Kings Camp is a small fishing community located 1 km east of Cape Jaffa. A small jetty services the fishing fleet which lies at anchor off the beach. There is also a store and caravan park. A reserve and road backs the beach providing beach parking and access. The first 6 km of beach (148A) is low, narrow, faces north, and is usually covered in seagrass. Ocean waves are usually negligible, with only local wind waves washing against the shore. Breaking waves and currents are usually absent and only during large seas do low ocean waves reach the beach. The beach slowly curves round to face northwest at the northern end, and is backed by low spits and recurved spits, which grade seaward into beach-foredune ridges. At the northern end there are up to 40 Holocene ridges across a 1 km wide ridge plain, indicating the extent of shoreline progradation over the past 6 000 years. read more
