The Canadian Bay Road reaches the coast at a 10 m high point that separates Half Moon and Canadian Bays. There is a reserve on the point with picnic facilities and a car park. A seawall protects the southern side of the point while, on the northern side, is a large boat club, and a second car park behind Canadian Bay at the end of Williams Road. A walking track runs along the bluffs above Canadian Bay. The two beaches face west and receive surf during strong westerlies. Half Moon Bay consists of over 200 m of high tide, sandy beach, which sweeps in three small arcs below the red bluffs and between more prominent reefs. At Canadian Bay there is a bar cut by rip channels along the southern half, with more rocks and reef along the northern half of the 850 m long, crenulate beach.
Beach Length: 0.85km
