Maitland Beach is a 1 200 m long beach consisting of a narrow, crenulate, high tide sand and cobble beach; fronted for much of its length by rocks and low tide rock flats. The Bear Gully Road provides car access to the southern end of the beach, where there is a camping area, but no facilities. Waves average 1 m; however the surf is dominated by rocks, which generate numerous currents.
