South of Bird Rock, the coast is dominated by steep, 30 to 40 m high, limestone bluffs, which wind their way for 2.5 km to Bells Beach. The original vehicle track to Bells ran along the top of these bluffs. At the base of the bluffs are three small beaches, each surrounded by rocks and reefs. The three beaches are all relatively short and narrow, with the one below Princes St awash at high tide. Access is difficult, requiring a walk around the rocks from Princes St, or down the bluff to Beach 300, and down the gully of the same name to Dead Man Beach. The three beaches receive waves averaging 1 to 1.5 m, with the reefs lowering waves at Dead Man and producing a steep, barless beach.
