Beach WA 1609 commences on the southern side of the boat harbour and continues south for 1.9 km to the mouth of a usually dry creek. A 50-100 m wide foredune backs the beach, with a gravel road behind the dunes, then large acreage residential blocks. The racecourse backs the northern end of the beach adjacent to the boat harbour. The sand flats and reef continue along the front of the beach.
