Beach WA 1846 is a westward migrating barrier island that has extended as a series of partly active recurved spits for 1.5 km across beach WA 1845 (Fig. 4.396). The beach extends east for 3.5 km to a 50 m wide creek mouth. The island is up to 400 m wide and backed by a 200 ha, 48 m bedrock high, then several kilometres of salt flats. Beach WA 1847 continues east of the tidal creek for 4.5 km as a 300-400 m wide crenulate barrier island, to terminate at the next 100 m wide creek mouth. The island is backed by inner beach ridges and 3 km wide salt flats then the eastern distributary of the Harding River.
