Bouncing Stones Beach is a popular tourist stop - not so much to swim, but when the tide is high and the waves breaking, to see if the stones that compose the steep high tide beach are in fact bouncing. The beach lies right next to the Cooktown Road and is very accessible. However, to preserve the stones and protect the beach, which has important aboriginal significance, access to the beach is restricted and moving the stones is banned.
