Beach Q 11 is a 3.5 km long low energy beach that is afforded increasing protection toward the east from a slight northerly protrusion in the shoreline, with mangroves covering the easternmost 1 km of the tidal flats. One kilometre wide ridged sand flats form the remainder of the beach. The beach is backed by a 4 km wide discontinuous series of beach ridges and salt flats, then 1-2 km wide salt flats.
