Cowrie Bay is located out on the eastern side of Cape Conran. It can be reached by walking along the East Cape walking track, or from the West Cape parking area. It is a 250 m long south-east facing sandy beach, with dipping rocks and reefs outcropping along half of the beach. Consequently, the surf zone is dominated by rocks and strong rip currents flowing out along the larger reefs.
